Wallet & expenses

Manage group costs

Split a bill and track balances

Record the person who paid, the people who shared the cost and the amount each person needs to settle.

Record an expense correctly

  1. Enter the total and currency

Use the amount that was actually paid. Keep the original receipt currency when it differs from the trip currency.

  2. Choose who paid

Choose the member who covered the bill, or the group fund if shared money paid for it. These are different sources.

  3. Choose who shares the cost

Select the members involved in this expense. Leave out anyone who did not take part.

  4. Review and save

Check the total, shares, date and note. If the expense already exists, correct the existing entry instead of creating a duplicate.

Example: dinner for three

Mai pays a 600,000 VND restaurant bill for Mai, Linh and An. All three share it equally. No earlier debts or group-fund payments are included in this example.

PersonPaidShare of dinnerResult for this expense
Mai600,000 VND200,000 VNDReceives 400,000 VND in total
Linh0 VND200,000 VNDOwes Mai 200,000 VND
An0 VND200,000 VNDOwes Mai 200,000 VND

The trip’s settlement view can include other expenses as well, so its final balance may differ from the amount on one bill. Small rounding differences can occur when an amount cannot be divided evenly.

Paid by a member or by the group?

Choose a member when that person used their own money. Choose the group fund when the cost came from money already collected for the group. Recording a fund-paid expense as a personal payment can create a reimbursement that the member is not actually owed.

Settle outside the ledger, then record it

Agree how the reimbursement will be made and verify the payment with the recipient. Marking a balance as settled updates the record; it does not send money by itself. If a payment is still pending elsewhere, wait for confirmation before treating it as completed.
